Where To Buy Cross Stitch Kits
from:The stockings were hung by the chimney with care is a line we all know and love. But for this article we should perhaps say: The stockings were made with love and care. For that is the whole point of needle point isnt it? Instead of merely picking up stockings made in some factory somewhere, why not take a little time and do Christmas right.
There are a staggering variety of Christmas stocking cross stitch kits available. The only limit is your imagination and dedication. Imagine making something that will be valued each and every holiday season for years.
When your kids or grandkids pull the stockings that you had made out of the Christmas decorations box, they will always connect your effort and care to all that is grand and glorious about Christmas.
So pick up a Christmas stocking kit and make this Christmas just a little bit more authentic. Your love and care will be remembered for years. When someone asks where to buy cross stitch kits?
Your loved ones will smile and say that it was not bought but made. Then of course they will want to know who made it. Who did such an unusually generous and thoughtful deed. It will be your name that is remembered with love and affection.
Every holiday season we are reminded of what is truly important in our lives. The answer is always simple and profound: family, love and good cheer! So this Christmas I send along my warmest greetings and hope that everyone makes it a glorious time for little and big, young and old children everywhere.
So If youre looking for a fun project to do with your kids, a hooked rug pillow kit might be just what youre looking for. Although the basic latch hook procedure is quite simple, the pillows do take quite awhile to complete.
You will be able to teach your children this great leisure skill while forming a tighter family bond that only time spent together can forge. Since this isnt the type of project children can do in one sitting, it teaches them patience and perseverance.
Historically women hooked rugs on burlap. This was because burlap flour sacks were easier to obtain than other materials. They would draw designs on the sacking material, and then stretch the design on a frame.
Using a hook, they drew wool strips through the fabric creating short loops on the back side of the fabric. They usually started working their designs in the middle and worked out. Once they finished hooking a rug, they sewed binding around the edges so they wouldnt fray. Then the rug could be stitched onto a pillow.
Modern rug hooking is done with a latch hook. Short pieces of yarn are threaded through the hook. The hook is pushed through a hole in a mesh backing and comes out through the next hole. The hook pulls the yarn through a loop in itself which ties the yarn to the mesh and leaves the two ends sticking out on the front side of the piece.
You can work a latch hook rug either stretched on a frame or not, depending on what you prefer. Unlike the old hooked rugs, you start from the bottom and work up to the top instead of starting in the middle.
After the hooking is completed, the edges are bound. The rug is then ready to be used as a wall hanging or turned into a pillow. Because of their small size, the products of latch hook kits arent usually used as floor rugs.
You can either buy a ready-made pillow to make into your hooked rug pillow, or you can make the pillow yourself. If you use a store-bought pillow, all you need to do to finish the project is to stitch the rug onto the pillow. The binding around the edge of the hooked picture can become an accent cording that goes around the outside edge of the pillow.
Your rug needs to be ironed before being sewn onto anything. Lay the rug face down on your ironing board and cover the back with damp rags. Iron over the rags very carefully using low heat. During the ironing process, you should work gently to pull out wrinkles. After straightening the rug in this manner, youre ready to sew it onto your pillow.
Instead of sewing the rug permanently onto the pillow, you might want to make the rug into a pillow cover which you can slip the pillow in and out of so that you can clean the cover. By purchasing a piece of fabric and fiberfill, you can sew the rug to the fabric and then stuff the pillow you have created.
You need to stitch with the right sides together and then turn the piece right side out before stuffing.
No matter what methods you use to make your hooked rug pillow, you and your family will consider the finished piece a family heirloom which will be treasured for years to come.
